In some poker variants, there are betting intervals. These intervals happen after each round of dealing. The player who is first to act is the player who has the privilege of deciding the size of the first bet. He is also the person who deals the cards. He is seated to the left of the big blind. He shuffles the deck and then passes the button to the next player. Each player receives one card face up. The turn, or the first betting interval, is when a player may bet, check, or fold.
